Obituary of Ann E Fondaco

MENDHAM - Ann E. Fondaco passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 88. Born in Fort Lee to the late Antonio and Philomena (Del Bene) Cillo on September 24, 1922, she was a resident of Mendham for 87 years. A devoted wife and mother, she cared for her husband throughout his four year fight against ALS. She attended the Hilltop School in Mendham, and graduated from Morristown High School. During World War II, she worked at the Piston Ring Corp. in Stirling, NJ making airplane parts. It was there that she met her late husband Joseph. She worked for a time at the Mendham Borough Schools, and later was a food services worker for Morristown Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Mendham Seniors, and a member of the Mendham Borough Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary. Mrs. Fondaco was a member of St. Joseph's R. C. Church in Mendham. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1962, her parents, her sister Marie Pennimpede, her grandson Peter Fondaco, and a brother who died at one month old. Mrs. Fondaco is survived by her loving children, Julia Hasbrouck, Phyllis Case and her husband Robert, Peter and his wife Kelly, and Tony and his wife Nina; five brothers, Peter Cillo and his wife Alice, Aniello (Nen) Cillo, Anthony Cillo and his wife Dolores, Dr. Joseph Cillo and his fianc Tina Callahan, James Cillo and his wife Geri, and her brother-in-law Peter Pennimpede; two sisters, Rose Grievo and her husband Sal, and Teresa Smith and her husband Jack. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and their families. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:30am at St. Joseph R. C. Church, Mendham, NJ. Interment St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
