Obituary of David M Danielson
MENDHAM - David M. Danielson died on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover after a short illness at the age of 103.He was born in the United States on January 3, 1907 to the late Odin and Jette Larsen Danielson and was taken to Osen Norway as an infant. He returned to the United States as a young man and married the late Kathleen Heaney. David and Kathleen had three children, Joan Danielson Thomson, Maureen Danielson Casey and the late David G. Danielson. He is survived by his two daughters, his seven grand children and his twelve great grandchildren. Mr. Danielson also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all residing in Norway.He lived in New York, California and for the last 25 years in Mendham where he was affectionately known as it's "Honorary but unelected Mayor". Mr. Danielson was active in Mendham's Senior Citizen Groups and could frequently be seen walking its streets in the company of his good friend, Stella Lippert, doffing his hat to passing ladies.
He was a member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Church, 375 Main Street, Chester, NJ 07930 where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for him on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
He will always be remembered as a courtly gentleman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.
Arrangements are by the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ 07945 www.baileyfuneralhomes.com Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested by the family to Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 West Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801
