The beauty of Scouting is the relationships developed and the extensions of our own personal families. As Leaders we had the unique opportunity to help these young men grow, and the responsibility to protect them when their parents entrusted us with their care. For me, Nick always had an extra piece of my heart. I must say that of all the Eagle presentations I have been part of; I was honored most when asked by Nick to present him with the flag of our country. I am numb with sadness and words cannot express my family's sympathy Rich, Morna Tom and Lynn. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. John, Barbara, Sue and I will keep you all in ours prayers. Nick may you rest in the peace of our Lord.
…and now may the Great Scoutmaster of all good Scouts be with us till me meet again...

Dear Rich, Morna, Tom, Lynne and Tyler
Our deepest and sincere sympathy’s to all of you.
Words cannot express what we are feeling with the loss of Nick. We know how much he meant to all of you.
Please know that Nick became a friend to all that knew him. He truly lived the scout law, all 12 points. He was kind, courteous, helpful, cheerful, clean, reverent, trustworthy, loyal, obedient, thrifty, friendly and brave, as exhibited in the final days of his time on earth with us.
From the time Nick was a cub scout, camping with the troop at Fosterfields, climbing on James back, to the time when Jon was a cub scout and climbed on Nick’s back, to his helping all of the younger scouts with advancement and giving them someone to look up to, Nick was always there.
While there is no consolation or explanation why he was only with us for a short time, during his time with us he made a bigger impact than most people 5 times his age. Nick touched so many hearts and was truly a friend to all.
What started out as “a family in scouting has blossomed into a wonderful friendship over the years, many times feeling that we were family and for this we are all blessed.
To paraphrase part of the Troop 166 Eagle Ceremony, Nick will forever live on in the “spirit of those in Troop 166.

Nick has been a trusted and well respected friend of our family for many years. When he entered our house with his smile, the room lit up and we were immediately captured by his winning personality. I am so thankful that I had the privilege of becoming as close to Nick as I was. I will always remember the notes he used to leave around our house, bar-tending at Kristen's graduations party, New Years (enough said...) and his beautiful ability to connect with you and make you smile. He will always be the younger brother I never had and I will carry his smile and the memories I have in my heart for the rest of my life. I am deeply sorry for your loss--he did not live long life, be he fully lived the years that he had. I love you Nick, forever.

To the muccia family I write to you with the deepest remorse for the loss of one of the finest eagles scouts I have known. It is hard to believe that this is happened and to such a great person like nick. Through scouting and search I had come to no nick on a very personal level and I can say that I am better for getting to know such a fine son brother and friend. The memories that have been forged will never be forgotten. Nick left earth early but I can assure you his memory will never be forgotten. He was a wonderful individual. Philipp Foerster posted a condolence
To the family and friends of Nick Muccia,
Every person is destined to do something great, I believe Nick’s destiny was spreading joy and happiness, and he started fulfilling his destiny the moment he entered this world. Nick would tell me his parents considered him a miracle baby but not only was he a miracle baby but a miraculous person to all of us. Although only for a short time, he spent every second of that time brightening people’s days. When people commented on what their favorite memory of Nick was, it wasn’t anything extravagant, but just a quick and simple thing Nick had done for that person and it would mean the world to them. Something as easy as a huge or pat on the back would make someone’s day so much better. The dreaded statistics tests I shared with him senior year would never seem so bad when he came in and sang his infamous rendition of “A Whole New World. And just like that Nick made the best out of every situation he was handed. He did swim team, and had a mean backstroke, but after junior year his shoulder was giving him so much trouble that he could not swim anymore. But instead of quitting the team and just relaxing he stayed with it and cheered the team on at every practice and meet. Not only did that mean a lot for the team members but it showed a lot about his incredible character that never varied and was always true.
If someone ever wanted to talk to Nick he wouldn’t sit there and just let it go in one ear and out the other but actually listen and show genuine interest in you and what you had to say and that’s what made everyone see him as such an amazing friend. He did that with so many people that it eventually formed our group of friends, whose bonds were made stronger by him and his dedication to every single one of us. Nick wasn’t just any friend; he was everyone’s BEST friend.
Nick saw all the people that came to see him yesterday and that are here right now, and is just beaming up there next to God, because he knows that he fulfilled what he needed to and that was making the world a better place for everyone he knew. I wish he would have taken his time with it so he could have spent more time with us, but that was Nick for you always working hard. I am proud to say I have been helped by Nick, learned from Nick, and been touched by Nick. He always said "live the life you love, love the life you live. And I think if there is one thing we could learn from Nick’s time with us it is exactly that. Live every day doing what makes you happy, and be happy with what you have. Nick I love you, We Love you, Everyone loves you. You made us stronger, better and happier. We will never forget you.
Mr. and Mrs. Muccia, Lynne, Tom and Tyler. You raised and mentored an incredible man that touched and changed the lives of so many people. You will always be near and dear to our hearts. He loved you very much; as do all of us. Be strong and know that your son is up there with God smiling down on you and will always be watching over you as you watched over him.
