Obituary of Robert S. Rochelle

Robert S. Rochelle died peacefully on Saturday Oct. 30, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Madison. He was 90. Born in Morristown on June 20, 1921, he was a lifelong resident of Morris Township and served in the Army Air Corps obtaining the rank of Cpl from 1942-45. Mr. Rochelle was a Custom Home Builder in the Morris County Area for over 40 years. He was a Graduate Assistant of Dale Carnegie. He sat on the boards of the YMCA of Morristown, Morris County Savings Bank, Evergreen Cemetery and The Trustees of the Morristown Green. He was an active member and served as a Deacon and Elder at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown. In his capacity as a Deacon he counseled the inmates at the Morris County Correctional Facility. He was an active Rotarian. Mr. Rochelle was a founding member of the Somerset and Morris Homebuilders Assoc. and served as the first President of the NJ Homebuilders Assoc. His family will remember him as an avid skier, tennis player, golfer and all around outdoorsman. His was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (2001), his sister Anne Rochelle Pallister and his brother Paul M Rochelle. Survivors include two sons Rev. Robert S Rochelle, Jr. (Bonnie) of Phelps, NY, and John Rochelle (Diane) of Chester, NJ; and one daughter Wister Costanza (Tom) of Lancaster, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren David Rochelle, Kirsten Mucci (Mark), Christopher Rochelle, Mark Mayes-Rochelle, Tracey Nora Herrmann (Jeff), Jon-Ryan Rochelle and his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, and Matthew Mucci, and Luke Herrmann. The funeral Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 57 Park Place, on Friday Nov. 5, 2010 at 10:30am. The Interment will take place immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to County of Morris - Inmate Programs, 43 John St., Morris Twsp., NJ, 07960, in his memory, would be appreciated.
