Obituary of Robert C Collins

Robert C. Collins passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at home in Mendham surrounded by his family. He was 48. Born in Plainfield, he lived in Fanwood, NJ before moving to Mendham in 1971. He graduated from Mendham High School in 1980 and received his BS in Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 1986. Bob was an Engineer for Cerenzio & Panaro in Sparta for 10 years. He was the current President of the Mendham Pastime Club and had also served as its President in 2004. He also served as a trustee for many years. Bob was also a member of the Open Space Committee for Mendham Borough. His family will remember him as a man of the sea and earth whose smiling face welcomed everyone into his life. His dedication and countless hours spent volunteering his time to the Pastime Club will not be forgotten. Survivors include his wife Donna Dunphy Collins of Mendham, two daughters Moriah Collins of England and Michaela Collins also of Mendham. His parents, Robert C. and Marie Q. Collins of Mendham, three sisters, Mary Beth Sawyer of Connecticut, Maura Goessling of Minnesota and Kathleen Kiessling of Rockaway, NJ. He is also survived by a large immediate family and many loyal friends. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday October 16, 2010 at 10:30am. at St. Joseph Church in Mendham. The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the Mass at the Mendham Borough Firehouse on East Main Street. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mendham Pastime Club, 3 Hilltop Road, Mendham, a charitable organization raising money for youth sports in Mendham.
