Obituary of Joseph F. Daley

Mendham: Joseph F. Daley died at his home in Mendham on September 13, 2010. He was 91. Born and raised in Rutherford, Mr. Daley had been a Mendham resident since 1951. He was a founding member of Mendham Golf & Tennis Club and enjoyed playing both sports. He was an active volunteer in the community throughout his life, most recently serving with distinction on the Mendham Township Board of Adjustment. In addition, Mr. Daley was a past president of the Brookside Community Club and had been a member of the Mendham Township Board of Education. He was a loyal parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and sang barbershop with the Dapper Dans of Harmony chorus. Mr. Daley was a Vice President (International Manufacturing) with Warner Lambert in Morris Plains, from which he retired in 1984 after 28 years of service. He graduated from the Newark College of Engineering with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He received his Masters in Chemical Engineering from NYU where he also pursued doctoral studies. Mr. Daley is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Irene Daley, four daughters, Irene O'Neill (John) of Larchmont, NY, Jean Blair (David) of Villanova, PA, Elaine Bek (Les) of Kentfield, CA, and Kathryn Wilde (Brad) of Avon, CT, a sister, Marie Johnson of Basking Ridge, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two brothers predeceased him. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 18th, at Saint Joseph's Church, Mendham. Interment at Mendham Hilltop Cemetery.
