Obituary of Gordon L. Link
MENDHAM TWP - Gordon L. Link, PhD, of Brookside, died comfortably at home on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 after living with lung cancer for four years. He was 78.
Born in Charleston West Virginia to the late Gordon and Mary Frances (Littlepage) Link on February 9, 1932, he was a resident of Far Hills NJ before moving to Brookside 45 years ago.
He was graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1954 and received his Ph.D. (Physical Chemistry) from the University of Virginia in 1958. He was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs in Murray Hill for 29 years before retiring in 1987.
Gordon was active in Mendham Twp., including his service on the Board of Education and Environmental Commission, and tutoring in math and language skills. He spent many hours walking and clearing trails in the Township parks with his wife and one of their many Golden Retrievers.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Dean (Spangler) Link, his son Lee of Seattle WA; two sisters, Mary Lee Allen of Richmond VA, and Rebecca Rooney of Miami FL; and many nieces and nephews.

At Gordon's wishes no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the Mendham Township Library, PO Box 500, Brookside, NJ 07926; to the Somerset Hills VNA 200 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920; or to a charity of your choice.
