Obituary of Beth M. Pettit
Beth Madeleine Pettit passed away on June 19, 2010. She was born in Los Angeles California on July 8, 1962. She grew up in Randolph, NJ where she was active in the Randolph HS music program and was selected for area, region, and all-state bands and orchestras where she excelled on the trumpet. She later went on to study music at Ithaca College receiving a BA in applied music. While at Ithaca, she was a member of the Corning Symphony Orchestra. Upon graduation, she played professionally in the Honolulu Symphony and eventually returned stateside and studied at Parsons School of Design where she received a degree in interior design.
Beth continued her dual careers in music and interior design. Included in the musical groups in which she was active are: The Bangor Band, The Ellsworth Gilbert and Sullivan Society, The Hanover Wind Symphony, Imperial Brass, The Ridgewood Concert Band where she also served on the board of directors, and the NJ Baroque Ensemble. At the time of her death, Beth was a professional free-lance musician and a member of the New Sussex Symphony, the Black River Theater Group and the Bergen Brass.
Beth faced many challenges in her life as a leukemia survivor and other serious illnesses. During the last two years of her life, she was very happily married to her husband, Ray Pettit. She was the beloved daughter of Russ and Beverly Hall of Randolph, NJ and the much-loved sister of Jo Ann Roman of Bloomingdale, NJ as well as the cherished niece of Jean Gerritsen of Garfield, NJ.
