Obituary of Elizabeth Marlow Komline

Elizabeth Marlow Komline passed away on May 23, 2010 at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge. She was 93. Born in Scranton, Pa, Elizabeth grew up in Lincoln Park and Ridgewood, New Jersey. She attended Ursinus College and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1940, where she captained the women's field hockey team, was elected to Staff and Sandal, the Junior women's honor society and to the Mortar Board, the Senior women's honor society. Betsy's father, Alfred Marlow, Sr., founded Marlow Pumps in 1924, now part of the ITT Corporation. In 1940 she married Thomas R. Komline. In 1946 her husband, along with Walter Sanderson, founded Komline-Sanderson Engineering Corporation, originally of Glen Rock, New Jersey. In 1950 the company moved to its present location in Peapack, New Jersey. The firm became an international leader in industrial and wastewater processing machinery. Following Mr. Komline's death she served as president of the corporation for three years, then as chair of the board for many years thereafter. Betsy was active in local and national organizations, serving on the boards of the Reformed Church in America, New Brunswick Seminary, Frost Valley YMCA, the Peapack Reformed Church and St. Luke's Village of Gladstone and volunteered regularly at Morristown Memorial Hospital's Bargain Box. Her husband, Thomas R. Komline Sr., died in 1973. Her two brothers, Alfred and Richard Marlow, predeceased her. Survivors include her five children, Thomas R. of Easton, PA, Russell M. and Christopher L. of Gladstone, Keith W. of Dorset, VT and Martha Smith of Brookville, ME. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapack.
