Obituary of Robert Pedota
Robert Pedota died on Feb. 12, 2010 after a brief illness at Somerset Medical Center. He was 88.
Born in Bronx, NY he lived in Lake Carmel, NY, Staten Island, NY, and Whiting, NJ before moving to Bedminster in 2004.
Mr. Pedota started as a butcher in his family's shop on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. He eventually worked for Shop Rite in Newark, Springfield and Maplewood for 20 years before retiring in 1988. He was was a member of the Meat Cutters Union Local 464A in Totowa.
He served in the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946. He was in the Allied Airborne and flew on gliders during the invasion of Holland in 1944.
His family will remember him as a loving father and husband. He loved gardening and sports, especially the NY Rangers and NY Yankees. He attended Yankee Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series.
His wife of 63 years Jeanne and his brother Joseph and sister Florence predeceased him. He will be missed by his friends and neighbors at Pluckemin Park in Bedminster where he resided.
Survivors include his children, Chris and his wife Patti of Bedminster, Angela Adams and her husband Steve of Poughquake, NY and Paul Pedota and his wife Cynthia of New Mexico. He has seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapack. Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:30am at St. Brigid Church, Peapack.
