Rit Mayo is memorable for for all manner of reasons. He was a gentle, patient and kind person that I will always remember very fondly. For many of the guys who grew up with his son Chris and his siblings, Rit was the person who had the courage to let us, and in fact encouraged us, to build a log cabin on his property, cutting down his trees and using his equipment to do so. That experience helped bond our friendship and was one my life's highlights. It not only created an opportunity friendships develop it also created a great occasion to get to know his wonderful family that much better. I think its this remarkable measure of his foresight and thoughtfulness that I will never forget.
