My first memories of Lou Serrano are from about 4th grade, when I recall him assisting with Mass, regular walking up to the altar as part of the contingent leading the service and holding a book high with great reverence. He also read the scripture and had a way of making it come alive.
Even at a young age, I knew he was giving the service the utmost dignity and respect, pulling out the all the stops at his end to serve the church community.
Service, and good and faithful servant, are but a few of the word that begin to describe Lou Serrano. I would not be surprised to see his picture in the dictionary after the definition of family man.
Also, I do not think it is possible to set the bar for an example of a great marriage any higher than Lou and Pat Serrano did. What a powerful and life-long inspiring example of the tremendous and sustaining power of love.
Lou Serrano was loving, tough, kind, tenacious, principled, honorable, wonderful and inspiring. I learned lessons, and more importantly saw examples from him, as a boy and as a middle-age man that I will always remember.
And you too are awesome Mrs. Serrano!

My deepest condolences to the Serrano Family for a wonderful man who I had the privilege of meeting with Monsignor Lasch when I spoke at St. Joseph's years ago. May he rest in peace knowing we will continue the cause of protecting our children.

Pat and Lou welcomed me into the Serrano family and Hills clan with wide open arms when their brother John brought me to my first gala July 4th event. Lou throughout the years never failed to ask after each member of my own very small family and was genuinely interested. He was a good counselor and always a steady presence and was quiet and modest about his numerous accomplishments of which he should be rightfully proud. I will miss Sweet Lou and sitting nearby him at holiday dinners with Pat and Lou's joyful, wonderful family.

Mr. Serrano was a fine man. One of the reasons I know that is because he tolerated me. I wish the entire Serrano family my love.
