Oh Libby my dear sweet kindred spirit
I am just now finding out by coincidence about your passing
I was lost in grief over the passing of my spouse and so self absorbed... I will always treasure our backyard impromptu wine and cheeses
Your spirit is bigger than this life and your smiles filled the room
I will see you again dear friend
I'm jealous of the angels

My sincerest, deepest condolences to the family and everyone that had known Libby. I loved Libby from the bottom of my heart and she had been my friend for over 30 years. She was special beyond belief. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask. It is the least I can do for all that Libby has done for me.

Miss Libby…no words can do justice to the unique individual that you were and will forever remain in my memory. We became close friends during your time in Saskatoon and although I was deeply saddened when you made the decision to move to Mendham I knew we had a friendship that would last a lifetime. Our lives may have been busy but we found time to keep in touch be it with a birthday or Christmas card or an e-mail. So many memories to cherish—discussions about ‘all things Josh Whedon’ (ie. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse); playing LOTR Trivial Pursuit on a slow day at Christmas time in the Clin Path lab; being invited to for dinner when your parents, Walter and Anne, made the annual pilgrimage to S’toon from Winterpeg to tend to your grounds (you had an exceptionally large backyard) and enjoying a Broadway show when it finally made its way to S’toon. Thanks for letting me share in part of your life’s journey.
‘Til our next meeting Libby’
Condolences and big hugs to Libby’s family, friends and Sir Percival/Parsival (Libby’s boon companion),
Moira and Bonnie (my Cairn Terrier), in Saskatoon

Libby, I still could not believe that you are gone forever.... You will be missed tremendously. 10 years ago, you hired me, it is like yesterday. I enjoyed working with you, and hearing your foot steps when walking in the hallway with your high heels on... Miss you, Libby, love you Libby. You said that you will fight and win, I guess we need to work even harder to find a solution.
Dear Libby's family, your daughter, sister, auntie, Libby, lived a short but wonderful life, feel so sorry for your loss, which is also our loss. Please accept my heart felted sympathy and prayers.

I have worked with Libby for more than 12 years at Novartis. Libby has been a true professional and has helped several of my projects in understanding safety signals. Libby was an expert in what she does, hardworking and provided input in every problem when requested. Libby also mentored my daughter during her summer internship last year. Since then, Libby has been a role model for her and the one to look up to. We truly miss Libby. May her soul rest in peace.

I'm so saddened to hear of Libbys passing! She was such an amazing person...so many unique gifts but mostly her beautiful personality and ability to connect with people and animals! She was one of the most inteligent people I have ever met. I hadn't seen her in over a year but my heart breaks for her entire family and friends... human, horse and canine. I will miss seeing her at horse shows but the times we shared will live forever in my mind..im so gratful she caught many of those moments on film. I don't think any one knew at the time how precious those moments would become...she was a special lady ...im deeply sorry

To say Libby marched to the beat of a different drummer is an understatement. She didn’t march, she sang and danced, and to a beat only she could hear …
I have tremendous respect for her, as she was the most determined person I have ever met. She was a high school dropout that became a highly educated and gifted professional. She had a love of animals - no matter how many she had, there were dreams of getting a few more. She also didn't seem to mind if her kitchen faucet was on backwards, her dog ate her plastic fence, or if her carpet was recently peed on. She liked sour gummy worms, and snap peas. She played DIABOLICAL pranks on her fellow students during veterinary school. She gave me a sunflower once because it was YELLOW. She thought the purpose of cruise control was so she could sit cross legged while driving. She had a rusted adjustable wrench with one jaw in her tool box, and a bright purple fence because she Liked It That Way. She was fearless, and would ride her scooter at top speed on the freeway without a helmet. She loved puzzles, and liked to laugh at how she used/abused chopsticks. She was into goth, punk rock, communism, and anything else she could think of that would shock her parents or rebel against authority. She taught me I can have pets (which I do to this day), that dogs can indeed reach hamburger buns even if they are placed in the CENTER of a picnic table, and how to hold down a semiconscious (about to become fully conscious) rabbit during castration.
She was UNIQUE and will be MISSED.

Our deepest condolences to Libby's family and all her friends in this time of sorrow. I like to think that people come into our lives for a reason. Whether it's to teach you, to love you, or to experience life with you. Laura and I met Libby when she lived in Saskatoon and we will always cherish the memories we have of her. There were the many nights sitting around the barbeque pit in her backyard playing trivia or just chatting. Going with Libby for a midnight Harry Potter book release at McNally Robinson. The night our daughter, Elizabeth, was born during a snowstorm and Libby drove her little hatchback from her home in Montgomery Place to our house in North Park to shovel our driveway so we didn't get stuck coming home from the hospital. How she used to call our daughter Buffy after Libby's favorite TV heroine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her love of animals especially her two dogs, Harlan and Grendel, and her cats. Our final conversation where we talked about binge watching Deep Space 9 to honour the passing of Leonard Nimoy. She was such a kind and gentle person with a great sense of humour. People may come into our lives for a reason but not all of them were meant to be with us forever. We will miss our dear Libby. May you Rest in Peace.

To the Skuba family,
I wish you prayers, love and light in your time of mourning. As Libby's colleague at Novartis, I was always amazed by Libby's knowledge and dedication and humor. Asking about her equestrian events, she lit up like a star. It was wonderful to see such obvious enjoyment. As I am writing this, it is hard to believe Libby is gone. I will never forget her, and I hope that she is among the stars.

I have known Libby since she returned to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine to pursue graduate studies in Veterinary Pathology, followed by a Senior Residency, and then employment with Prairie Diagnostic Services. A unique individual, for sure. Libby was an excellent public speaker and for one of her noon hour seminars, if my memory serves me correctly, she told us the harrowing story of Rh factor incompatibility that marked the beginning of her life. Maybe that helped make her strong, confident, and a fighter. Libby loved exquisite words and proper grammar and would not let the rest of us get away with anything sloppy. I clearly remember “someone” being reprimanded for pronouncing “potable” as if the first part of the word was “pot” instead of “pote”. And most of the time, Libby was right, and had taught us something. Kelley Penraat mentioned the bright orange bell bottoms - I think they were wide wale corduroy. It was always a good day when Libby wore those pants – could not help but make us all smile, but that’s not today.
My heartfelt sympathy to Libby’s family and friends – such a loss.
Sincerely,
Marion Jackson

Libby was one of my favorite colleagues at Novartis. I enjoyed every moment I spent with her. I was shocked to hear of her passing as last we spoke it sounded like she would 'will' herself through it and beat the cancer. She was that full of life.
Libby was extremely knowledgeable and could handle a staggering workload. To this day I dont know how she managed it. And all the while, she mentored her group and pushed them to get involved with projects and helped us all to succeed. No matter how busy, Libby always MADE time for the hundreds of questions and requests that came to her on a daily basis. Libby made everyone around her better and her contributions to Novartis were immeasurable. My daughter Christine spent two years as a summer intern working under Libby in the Clinical Patholgy lab and her influence led her to a career path in that field. Libby touched many lives and she will be greatly missed by all.
Sincere condolences to Libby's family and friends.

My heart goes out to everyone that knew and loved Libby. She touched so many lives and she was such a wonderful person; she was so smart, but still so humble, she was kind and funny and thoughtful. We used to walk our dogs together when she lived in Saskatoon and I loved talking to her. She always came to my rescue when my dogs ate something they shouldn't (like 15 pounds of cat food or 14 boxes of chocolate covered almonds). When we came to visit her in Mendham she went out of her way to make us feel welcome and show us the sights. I will miss her dearly.

My dearest Libby – I will miss you deeply…we bonded over the stress of histopathology ophthalmology rounds, you rescued me at the end of the day when the mother lode of cytology slides came into the clinical pathology service and I needed to pick up my daughter at university daycare, along with Farshid you saved me on multiple occasions during Friday morning pathology rounds, you had a baby shower for my second daughter, you were an aunt to my children, you found me my first job after my residency and you were my boss for the last 9 years. My heart aches at the thought of facing my day without you, You were my best friend and outstanding boss. You were content with being the best clinical pathologist you could be, you were always happy to have other experts around, you were humble yet smart, spontaneous yet disciplined, innovative yet conventional, spontaneous yet deliberate. My favorite memory of you is from our residency when you came in wearing bright orange bell bottom pants :) only Libby could get away with those pants…Love you…Miss you… Kelley

It was a pleasure to know her - we worked together some time ago for just a few years but during that time she was a wonderful colleague and companion at work, and at the weekends too, when we sometimes walked our dogs together. She was lots of fun - kind, smart, practical, energetic, open-minded and saw the best in everyone, and of course it goes without saying that she was a dedicated veterinarian and animal lover who walked the talk. We have lost a very special person.
