Obituary of Doris C Barrett

Doris Crumlish Barrett, best known as "Nana" passed on to heaven peacefully on April 10th after a short illness. Beloved mother of Timothy and Randy Barrett and Robin Forish, Grandmother of Shane, Casey, Brittney and Shannon Barrett, Tracy Barrette, Barrett Forish and Bret Barrett, Great Grandmother of Kyle, Ashley and Chad Barrett, Hannah, Owen and Emma Ray Kurinski, Emma Forish, Abagail and Stephen Barrette and sibling niece, Lee Weiss. A long-time resident of Bedminster, Doris was in her glory managing her cherished "Beau Cheval" farm. Her devotion to her horses, pet donkey, cattle, sheep and dogs at Beau Cheval sustained her love of animals and nature. Born in Newark, she grew up and raised her family in Livingston before moving to Millington and on to Beau Cheval. A winter resident of Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, FL., Doris enjoyed many years of winter boating and golfing with her husband and family, one of the great joys of Nana's life and she remained a member of Roxiticus and Card Sound Golf Clubs for many years, accumulating a number of trophies. Nana was an accomplished cook, providing many lavish feasts for family and friends and she was also an avid gardener, maintaining both vegetable and flower gardens at the Beau Cheval Farm. Preceeded in death in 2002 by her devoted husband of 57 years, Emmett Ray Barrett, Doris found new joys and meaning with her family and friends after his passing. She remained a vibrant and vital woman who exemplified the best ideals and inspirations as the family matriarch. Nana, you will live on in our hearts, your unending kindness nourishing us, your virtue guiding us. Rest in Peace with your adored husband, your mother, father, brother and sister and many friends who have gone on to Heaven before you. The family will receive friends on Monday April 13 from 2-5 and 7-9pm at the Baily Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack, NJ. A Mass will be offered on Tuesday April 14 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery thereafter, located at 145 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. (Tel. 908 221 9449) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's, Cancer or Catholic Charities of your choice, paying it forward. www.baileyfuneral.com
