William J. Wardle Obituary
On July 22, 2026 William J Wardle experienced a sudden cardiac incident at home. He was rushed to RWJ Somerset Hospital where he passed away.
Bill was born on September 14, 1968 in Paterson, NJ and grew up in Parsippany, NJ. A 1986 graduate of Parsippany Hills High School, Bill was a standout student athlete. A southpaw pitcher he earned numerous awards as a player for school, American Legion Baseball, Essex County League and Metropolitan League.
He went on to pitch at Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After graduation in a test preparation class for the CPA exam he met his future wife, Kathy. They married in 1993 and went on to welcome three daughters and share almost 33 years of a deeply happy and beautiful marriage.
After earning his CPA license Bill continued his academic career by earning Masters in Tax (MST) from Seton Hall University.
His early professional career began in public accounting at firms Richard A Eisner, Wiss, and BDO Seidman. He then went on to serve as Director of Tax for Tiffany & Co. for 8 years and COACH for 2 years.
Bill was recruited back into the public accounting world in 2009 to head Partnership Tax Matters at KPMG for over 13 years. In 2021 he joined EY and led Partnership Taxes there. His expertise was broad and he worked on many important, high-profile issues over his career. Most recently he was instrumental in lobbying for and drafting provisions that were incorporated into what is now known as the “One Big, Beautiful Tax Bill” of 2025.
Bill loved sports, was a die-hard NY Yankees fan, and was passionate about nutrition and fitness. He was a connoisseur of music and was always exploring the latest audio equipment from headphones, speakers and music players in pursuit of the perfect sound.
Above all his greatest success and source of happiness was his family. His favorite place to be was home or in Stone Harbor, NJ with them. Bill’s sense of humor and fun was the foundation of the loving relationships he shared with his children. The good-natured teasing was a constant. No room he entered was ever without laughter and his special sweetness.
To know Bill was to know a man of faith, intellect, and accomplishment who was completely humble and unpretentious.
Bill was a devout lifelong Catholic and communicant of St Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Three Bridges, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years Kathleen and daughters Carolyn, Alison and Grace as well as his sister Wendy Bonin (Bruce), nephew Brad Bonin, and niece Brittany Bonin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, July 29th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges. Entombment will be private.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Shannon Daley Memorial Fund. Bill was a passionate supporter of their mission for many years.
