Kermit T. Burdette, Sr., 95 of Hopatcong NJ, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Starr, South Carolina to David and Hazel (Latham) Burdette, Kermit lived a long life centered on family, hard work and the simple joys that brought him happiness.

Kermit was the beloved father of Tom Burdette and fiancée Colleen Mabin, Gary Burdette and wife, Faith, Susan Gannon and husband Larry, and Holly Kiernan and wife, Marla.  He was a proud grandfather to Michael Burdette, Jaime Burdette and wife, Jessica, Todd Burdette and wife, Kristy, Megan Browne and husband, Chris, and Laura Alberto.

His greatest joy was being Pop to his great-grandchildren, Mason, Jaxon, Logan, Grayson, CJ and Danny, who always brought a smile to his face.  He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Kermit was predeceased in death by his devoted wife, Sue Carole Burdette, whom he missed dearly as well his siblings Anne, Archie, Dean, David, Joe and Shirley.

He loved spending time in Aruba, tending to his garden and yard while listening to classic country music and had a special place in his heart for his beloved animals.  He also loved to go deep sea fishing.  He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and in the people he loved most.
