Geraldine Garris-Happ Obituary

Geraldine Garris-Happ, 87, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026.

It is with deep worry and lasting love that we remember a dear friend whose presence brought warmth and kindness into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born in Port Chester, New York, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Lawrence Dean and Stephenie (Darmochwal) Garris. She spent her early years in Port Chester and later lived in Katonah, New York, before making her home in Bernardsville, New Jersey.

Geraldine dedicated 37 years of her professional life to her work at AT&T in White Plains, New York, where she serves as a respected Human Resources Department Head. Her commitment, integrity, and care for others left a lasting impression on colleagues and all who had the pleasure of working with her.

Outside of her career, Geraldine found great joy in creative expression. She was especially known and admired for her beautiful handmade greeting cards, each thoughtfully and uniquely crafted for every occasion and cherished by those who received them. She took great pride in decorating her home, both inside and out, with festive displays that reflected each season and holiday. Her Halloween displays were particularly amazing, bringing warmth and delight to family, friends, and neighbors. Hundreds of children visited every Halloween to see the scary figures and receive their treats. Geraldine made sure that each and every holiday was special for her close group of friends, The Groupies, by crafting handmade packages containing sweet treats for each person. She also generously shared her creative talent by volunteering as a craft teacher at the Somerset County Senior Center in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Geraldine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald Happ, as well as her brothers, Lawrence and Robert Garris. She is survived by her loving sister, Stephenie Garris, along with extended family and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Geraldine will rest alongside her husband at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Private services will be held for the family.

She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and generosity. Geraldine was a strong supporter of the Bernardsville First Aid Squad and the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Though she is no longer with us, her impact remains in the lives touched.
