William J Wardle Obituary
William J Wardle passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026 at Livia Health in East Hanover, at the age of 90.
Born in Paterson, NJ he lived in Parsippany for many years before moving to Blackwood, NJ in 1983.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. He received his Master’s Degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bill found his way into the world of Hospital Administration as a young graduate and worked his way up through the ranks of some of the most prestigious medical centers in the area. He was a Hospital Administrator for many years at Hackensack Hospital and then on to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He retired from the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2001.
Bill served in the Coast Guard as both active duty and reserves for 27 years before retiring as a Captain in 1986. His love of boats and the ocean was lifelong and he was an avid boater in his personal time as well. He spent many days of his free time and retirement boating, exploring the ocean and the rivers of the East Coast, especially on the Chesapeake River to Annapolis and spent much time with his family at the New Jersey shore.
In addition to all the hours he spent at the marina working on his boats, he was a hobbyist who built numerous intricate model cars and boats, some projects taking years to complete.
He was a loving father and grandfather, passionate about and proud of his family. He shared his love and deep knowledge of boats, the beach, and the ocean with them. He was always ready to take anyone out on his boat if they wanted to. There was always a big dose of Coast Guard safety to share and he was steadfast in training (and enforcing) proper life jacket use and boating protocols.
He is survived by his daughter Dr. Wendy Wardle-Bonin and her husband Bruce of Parsippany and his son William Wardle Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Whitehouse Station NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brad, Carolyn, Brittany, Alison and Grace.
A private entombment took place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
