You do not know me but I need to tell you how deeply sorry I am at hearing of the loss of your precious son. My husband and I lost two sons, and then I lost my husband. My heart aches for you and what you are going through right now. I watched the video on the website so I have an idea of what a joy your son has been. I can see that he left you many happy memories. Embrace those memories for they are lasting gifts which will hopefully bring you comfort in the coming days. Sincerely, Dee Stanzione. Long Valley, NJ

Marc was always a shining light whenever I got to work with him in class. His presence and smile will be greatly missed.

Marc was a valued member of the Mendham Township Middle School community and will be dearly missed. Like all of his former teachers, I am heartbroken by this tragic loss. Marc spent a good deal of time with me in the library, and during his time in middle school we shared many interesting and occasionally spirited conversations. He was always very polite and would go out of his way to greet me when he saw me in school or around town.
He was exceptionally talented and intelligent—an impressive orator who shone in the various presentations and mock trials he participated in, as well as a gifted musician and performer. When Marc found a subject interesting, he would dive deeply into it. He often asked me for books about ideas he was introduced to in class but wanted to explore further. When he was assigned a research paper on something that interested him, he was one of the few students who truly immersed himself in learning and reading.
When he put his mind to it, he created work that was well beyond his age and grade level. I am saddened that we will not have the chance to see what he could have done with all of his many gifts.

Mr. Marc was the most engaging and cultivated young man that I knew… He could reference mythology history or culture better than most adults… A tremendous loss and will be dearly missed.

I am so grateful to have known you, Marc. I remember coming over in elementary school when you had your egg business and how you showed me around your yard, the chickens, the coop, and even the asparagus garden. You were so proud of everything, and so happy that I came over to see. I’ll always think about the little moments too, like talking in gym class about your phases of the moon cheese tee-shirt, and me and my friends secretly listening to you playing the drums outside the choir room. You are so talented. Those moments meant more than I ever said, and I’ll miss them so much, and I’m going to miss you even more. Rest peacefully in God’s arms. — Faye Budnik
