Louis C. R. Farrelly Obituary

Louis C. R. Farrelly died peacefully on March 2, 2026.

A lifelong resident of the Somerset Hills, Louis had a welcoming smile for all those who encountered him, whether for the first time as he greeted them to the community, as a dear friend of many years, or as a real estate client exploring the area.

His enthusiasm for antique cars, shooting, fishing and the out-of-doors was happily shared with complete novices or total aficionados, and led him to create multiple annual events where people could enjoy those activities together.

His generosity and his belief that we can make our communities better is attested to by the many organizations which he helped grow: God’s Coop Food Pantry, Upper Raritan Watershed Association (now Raritan Headwaters), Schiff Natural Lands Trust, Far Hills Country Day School, Coriell Institute for Medical Research (Camden, NJ) and the Association of Mentally Ill Children (NYC).

His professionalism and integrity permeated his whole career and could be seen in his younger years with his advertising work at “The New Yorker”, “Art & Antiques” and “Shooting Sportsman” magazines, and then later in the high-end real estate businesses of Douglas Elliman, Coldwell Banker, and Kienlen Lattmann Sotheby’s International Real Estate.

Louis Farrelly was a warm, thoughtful and loving husband, father, neighbor, colleague and friend, who will be dearly missed.

A service in his memory will be held on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Rd, Bernardsville, NJ with a reception following.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the God's Coop Food Pantry, where Louis focused many of his efforts (Please indicate "God's Coop Food Pantry" in the Details).
