Obituary of Gail Alison Giblin
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Gail A. Giblin of Mendham, New Jersey, who passed away on February 21st, 2026, at the age of 74.
Gail will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 45 years, Burke; her three children, Burke III, Kevin, and Carolyn; her grandchildren, Bridgette Gail and Jerald; her sisters, Ellen Mowbray, Laura Schaible, and Lisa Mowbray as well as many family members, friends, former colleagues, and students whose lives she touched.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Gail was the eldest of four sisters. She grew up in Middletown, New Jersey, in the home her father built, surrounded by close family. From an early age, Gail developed a love for the outdoors and the Jersey Shore. She found joy in sailing her Sunfish sailboat, swimming, playing tennis and golf, spending time at the beach, and hosting dinner parties with her cherished family and friends.
Gail attended Kean University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, followed by a Master’s degree that led her to become a reading and writing specialist. She dedicated more than 37 years to the field of education, with a primary focus on special education. Gail worked tirelessly with students from kindergarten through high school, specializing in supporting children with dyslexia, learning disabilities, and other handicaps. Her patience, compassion, and strong belief in her students left a lasting impact on countless families. In addition to her work in education, Gail also obtained her real estate license and worked part-time as a realtor, helping families find their homes.
Above all, Gail was a loving mother and a devoted wife. She raised her three children with warmth, encouragement, and steadfast support, attending countless school events, sports games, and activities. Her family was the center of her life. Gail blessed her family with her profound love, which was evident to all who knew her.
Gail’s greatest passion was helping others. Her kind heart left a lasting impression on friends, family, and even strangers. She generously volunteered her time tutoring children who needed extra academic support and served the community through organizations such as The Matheny School, where she assisted adults and children with disabilities. She was also an active volunteer in therapy dog programs, including the Bold and Beautiful program, regularly bringing her beloved dog, Chloe, to children’s hospitals, nursing homes, and schools to bring comfort and joy to those facing difficult circumstances. Gail also volunteered with local soup kitchens and other community organizations, always finding ways to give back. Those who knew Gail will remember her for her warm smile, selflessness, patience, and unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness.
