Obituary of Joshua Sarlin
Joshua Sarlin passed away on November 17, 2025. He was 50. Born and raised in Livingston, NJ, Josh graduated from Livingston High School.
He attended UNLV and Arizona State University, finishing with a degree in psychology. He spent many happy, successful years as a technical sales representative in the lighting, vision and insurance industries.
Josh had a lifelong love of the beach, especially swimming in the ocean and fishing. He loved spending time with family at the holidays, enjoying good food, playing games and telling funny stories. Josh was skilled at transforming the weird, mundane, or scary situations in his life into comedic narratives. He liked to travel and explore Italy, Spain, and France with family and friends. His favorite trip was Hawaii. He felt inspired by Kauai and commemorated the feeling with a tattoo. In his spare time, he liked to paint or spend time with friends. He loved movies of any kind, but his favorites were comedies with offbeat or haplessly optimistic main characters. He had a great sense of humor, which was somehow both dark and disarmingly silly. He loved to laugh. He was a warm and loyal friend and he made friends easily, everywhere he went. He genuinely cared about other people and it was evident.
Josh is survived by his family and friends. His light and laughter will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ on Sunday, March 1st from 1-4 pm with a Celebrant Service at 3:30pm.
