Obituary of James G. Lioudis

James G. Lioudis passed away on December 4, 2025. He was 99 years old.

Born in Chios, Greece in 1926, to parents George and Sophia Lioudis. James served as a Merchant Marine in Greece before emigrating to the United States in the early 1950’s. He settled in Summit and lived in Basking Ridge before moving to Mendham in 1995. He was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church for many years.

James married the love of his life, Viola, in 1957. He and his wife worked together to manage their family business, managing real estate rentals together. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very proud of his US citizenship and stayed up to date with current events in the United States and around the world.

James is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, and his brothers, Nick, John, and Gus Lioudis. He is survived by his children Michael, Sophia, and George; daughters-in-laws Susan and Nancy and son-in-law Jimmy; grandchildren Michael (Carrie), Kristopher (Valerie), Emily, Vincent, Katherine, Stellios (Catrina), and Debbie (Kosta); as well as 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from5-8pm on Tuesday, December 9th at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, December 10th at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 1447 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph.  Interment to follow at Mendham Hilltop Cemetery, 18 Hilltop Road, Mendham. In lieu of flowers donations in James's memory may be made to St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church.
