Susan O'Connor

Obituary of Susan Peck O'Connor

On November 9th, 2025, Susan Peck O'Connor passed away in the mid-afternoon.  At the age of 77, she had been fighting extended illness.

Born September 2, 1948, in Syracuse, New York, Susan Peck grew up in Roseland, New Jersey, where she attended West Essex High School.  Some of her high school friends remained close for the rest of her life.  She attended Baldwin Wallace University, then later Bloomfield College, where she graduated with a degree in Art History.  In 1976, she met her future husband, Clinton D. O'Connor, whom she married in 1977.  They remained married for more than 48 years, until her passing.  She is survived by Clinton, and her children, Sean and Cassandra, and step-daughter Kelly.

In her youth, Susan enjoyed travel, British sports cars like her Triumph TR6 or MGB, and music, particularly Jackson Browne.  As a working mom, Susan went back to school to get a Master's Degree in Library Science from Kutztown University.  She worked at Skillman Library at Lafayette College until retiring at age 66.  An accomplished yarn crafter and seamstress, Susan made several Halloween costumes for her children, custom shirts for her husband and son, as well as a few large quilts and knit afghans.  She was particularly proud of making a baby blanket for her newly born grandchild.

Susan will be missed by all those she was close to.  She is survived by her husband Clinton O'Connor; one son Sean O'Connor of Phillipsburg, NJ, one daughter Cassandra O'Connor (Dallen Kroger) of Kansas City, MO, and one step daughter Kelly O'Connor of Bayonne, NJ.  She is also survived by her grandson Alfred Kroger.  All services are private.  Arrangements by the Bailey Funeral Home of Mendham.
