Obituary of Luba J. Klachko
With heavy hearts we share the passing of our mother, Luba Klachko, on October 26th 2025.
Born in Visipowsky, Ukraine, to parents Dmytro and Anna (Terletsky) Fedasiuk, she was the youngest of four siblings; Olya, Milko, and Bohdan. She immigrated to the United States in 1950. She was a longtime resident of New Providence, NJ until 2013 when she moved to the Mendham and Chester area to be close to her daughters. She was a woman of faith and a parishioner of St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark.
Luba was incredibly proud of her Ukrainian heritage and belonged to the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America for as many years as we can remember. She enjoyed doing traditional Ukrainian embroidery. She took great pride in her home and was a gracious host, entertaining friends and family with her delicious Ukrainian meals. She enjoyed playing volleyball and taking walks around town with her Pomeranian companion, Mushka. She was always very busy and was always helpful no matter where she was.
She met her husband, Wolodymyr Klachko, one summer at Soyuzivka where he won her over in a rowboat in the middle of the lake. They had a strong marriage and made a great team. The family enjoyed spending time in their summer home on LBI, and in the Catskills with the Fedasiuk and Muhlhauser families. She treated everyone she met with a sense of humor and grace, and she was very beloved. She had deep friendships and enjoyed staying in touch with her cherished friends. She became a widow in 1996 after 40 years of marriage, and never remarried.
Nothing meant more to her than family - she adored her daughters, Marta and Daria, her grandkids Bobby, Walter, Adriana and Natalie, and her son-in-laws Robert and James. She would do anything for us. She was a doting, involved baba, and was the most happy when we were all together.
She lived a long life, and made it past her 96th year. We spent so much time together and every minute was a blessing. We are comforted that her passing was peaceful. Her funeral service was held on October 28th at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church. Donations in her name can be made to the National Ukrainian Women’s League of America.
