Jannett V Murray Obituary

Jannett "Jan" V Murray passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at her home in Bethlehem, PA, following a brief illness.  She was 87.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, on November 26, 1937, to George and Jean Van Voorhees. She graduated from Douglas College with a BS in home economics and attended technical school to become a dental hygienist.

Jan worked as the office manager with her first  husband, Bob Bowers, for many years at their dental practice.

Jan was an avid equestrian, winning numerous events on her pony “Smoky" and enjoyed watching the Triple Crown races each year.  She was also an avid NY Giants football fan and had season tickets for many decades, including when they played in the Polo Grounds, Yankee Stadium, and when they moved to the Meadowlands in NJ.  Four great seats, on the Giants side, front row, goal line (at each stadium!), and she enjoyed going to the games with family and friends.

Jannett was a devoted and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  Jannett is survived by her sister, Jane Kennedy, and children Diane Klimas (Bob), Susan Christman (Gary), Brian Murray (Bengie), Sharon Lentine (Joe) and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Jan was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Bowers, her second husband of 45 years, Richard (2023), and sons Richard Jr. (2014) and Robert (2022).

Jan was a Catholic and longtime parishioner at St. Joseph's Church in Mendham. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, W. Main Street, Mendham, immediately followed by interment at St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
