Obituary of Juliet F Johnson
Juliet F. Johnson, affectionately known as “Julie,” passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the age of 90. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Julie’s life was defined by deep love for her family and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
Born on June 2, 1935, in Bronxville, NY, Julie was the daughter of the late Richard W. Stoney and Edith M. Stoney (née Keys). She was raised in Montclair, NJ, and graduated from The Kimberley School in 1953 before earning her degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA in 1957.
Julie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Dr. Alfred D. Johnson, and her sister, Diane Moore (née Stoney). Together, Julie and Al built a warm and loving home, first in West Caldwell, NJ and later in Vero Beach, Florida and Far Hills, New Jersey, where Julie has resided for the last 25 years.
Julie is survived by her four children: Richard D. Johnson and his wife Tess of Bedminster, NJ; Patricia D. Zabel and her husband Eric of Basking Ridge, NJ; David P. Johnson and his wife Maureen of Brielle, NJ; and Michael B. Johnson of Tewksbury, NJ. She was a proud and loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Amanda Amorese and her husband Mike of Ringoes, NJ; Richard Zabel and his wife Samantha of Augusta, GA; Alexandra Vigilante and her husband Brian of Flemington, NJ; William P. Johnson of Hoboken, NJ; Ryan Johnson and his fiancée Sonja of Port Washington, NY; Paige Johnson of Brielle, NJ; Andrew & Matthew Johnson of Bedminster, NJ; and Tucker, Cooper, and Finley Johnson of Long Valley, NJ.
Julie was also blessed to welcome the next generation into her life as a great-grandmother to three cherished great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Collin Amorese of Ringoes, NJ, and Hannah Vigilante of Flemington, NJ.

Julie will be remembered for her grace, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial mass will be held at St Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Peapack NJ at 11 am on Wednesday August 13th. Interment following will be private.
