Obituary of James Maw
James Maw, 67
Loving father, husband, brother, grandfather and community servant.
Brookside – Jimmy Maw passed away Saturday May 3, 2025. He was 67 years old.
Jimmy was born in Morristown on March 11, 1958. He was the eldest of 6 children of Ernest E. Maw Jr. and Jean P. Maw of Brookside, NJ. He attended The Peck School in Morristown, the Mendham Township Middle School, and Mendham High School where he graduated in the class of 1977. While growing up, he enjoyed playing little league baseball, midget football and helped build Brookside 4th of July floats and many initial local hiking paths, and cabins in what is now Dismal Harmony Park. He loved to hunt and fish and was always game for a trip to Pennsylvania with the likes of Sam Tufts Sr. and other close friends for the weekend.
Jimmy worked as a local master carpenter, having a direct hand in countless structures across the greater Mendham area. He was a member of the Brookside Engine Company and was known for his kindness and willingness to help family, friends, and neighbors with a helping hand whenever needed.
Jimmy fell in love with Kelly A. Geissler of Morristown, NJ and married on December 15th, 1989 and together they raised one daughter Brittany.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Jean P. (2006), and Ernest E. Jr. (2009), his father in-law Frank Geissler and his brothers in-law Stephen and David Geissler.
He is survived by his wife Kelly of Brookside, daughter Brittney (Robert Carrion) of Morristown, 3 grandchildren (Isabella, Grace and Sophia), his siblings Ernest (Anke), Munich, Germany, David (Koleen), Hopatcong NJ, Ellen, Pawcatuck CT, Eric (Kerri), Sanibel Island, FL, Brian (Caren), West Caldwell, NJ, his mother-in law Brenda Geissler of Morristown, his sister in-law Judy Geissler of Vermont and countless cousins, nephews and nieces across the Maw, Perrault, Brown, McKinnell, Walsh, and Geissler families.
The family will receive friends on Saturday May 31, 2025, at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham from 10am until 12 noon. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12 noon. A private Interment will follow in Hilltop Cemetery.
