Obituary of Alan Gregory Wiatroski
Alan “Greg” Wiatroski passed away on April 21, 2025. He was 74 years old.
Born in Summit, NJ, to parents William Sr. and Ruth (Amedeo) Wiatroski, Greg grew up in the Berkeley Heights and Summit area, before moving to Mendham in 1988. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Mendham.
Greg was a fixer and found joy in solving problems for others. He began his business, Greg Wiatroski Contracting, to make himself a living, but moreso to take care of his community. He went into business because he wanted to help others and make sure they were getting the best deal. More recently, Greg took an interest in computers and enjoyed tinkering with electronics. He enjoyed buying old computers, refurbishing them, and selling them for fair prices, continuing to provide good deals for his customers and neighbors.
Greg was very involved with his son’s time in the Boy Scouts, serving as a Leader for Troop 1 in Mendham from 1996 to 2001, and later held the title of Scout Master from 2002 to 2005. In his earlier years, Greg enjoyed photography, travel, and cars, especially his Porsche, but his interests changed as time went on. He loved to sail and owned two sailboats that he and his wife would enjoy down at Ortley Beach before beginning their family. When they welcomed their son Greg into their family, they made their yearly trip as a family to the Jersey Shore to share their love of the ocean. Greg had so much in his life to love, but his family was always number one.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Karen Wiatroski, his son Greg Wiatroski and his girlfriend Heather, brother Billy Wiatroski, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert Wiatroski, sister Dolores Corveleyn and brother-in-law Robert Corveleyn.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, from 3-7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 AM, at St. Joseph Church, W. Main Street, Mendham, immediately followed by inurnment at St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery in Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg's memory may be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
