Obituary of James M Maguire

James M Maguire DMD, 81, of Bedminster, NJ passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center, with his family by his side on April 14, 2025.   

Jim grew up in Newark, NJ and was a proud graduate of Essex Catholic High School, Seton Hall University and UMDNJ.   Jim was a respected Oral Surgeon, both in private practice and clinical education.  In his retirement, Jim enjoyed hiking, Irish music, Opera, traveling and walking in the park with his beloved wife, Susan. 

While Jim had many accomplishments during his professional career, he wanted to be remembered as a caring and loving son, husband, father and grandfather …and that he was. His family will miss him dearly.  

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and James V Maguire, sister Carol Vocaturo and brother John Gilbertson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julia and Walter Lysak, sister-in-law, Karen Lysak.  Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Susan, who was the love of his life, his children Donna Colella (Dana Michael), Brian Maguire (Kim) and Colleen McDermott (Terrance), his cherished grandchildren, Emily and Kelly Maguire and Jackie and Kyle McDermott and his sister-in-law, Paula Lysak.    

A Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, April 21, 2025 at 11am at St Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, 129 Main St Peapack, NJ, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.   A donation to Jim’s favorite charity, Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers would be appreciated to honor his memory.
