Gloria Lonergan

Obituary of Gloria Mary Lonergan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Mary Lonergan, beloved wife of Patrick Lonergan for 68 remarkable years, and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Gloria passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 20, 1937, in Chicago, IL, Gloria was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline Malfero. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Lonergan, who remains in our hearts forever. Gloria leaves behind her three cherished daughters, Karen Lonergan, Lisa Lonergan, and Kristine Lonergan Vaziri and her son-in-law, Kamran Vaziri. She was also the proud grandmother of Samantha Lonergan Rollins. And their sweet dog Bo.

Gloria and Patrick's 68 years together were filled with love, laughter, and adventure. From their early days in Chicago to their years in California, and eventually settling in New Jersey, the Lonergan family created a lifetime of memories. Together, they built 27 beautiful homes, each reflecting Gloria’s incredible eye for design and her deep passion for gardening. Her home was always a place of warmth, beauty, and love.

A woman of many talents, Gloria ran a highly successful antique business for years, where her keen sense of history and appreciation for craftsmanship shone. Gloria also loved to play the piano and was an accomplished pianist. But it was Gloria’s deep, unwavering love for animals that truly defined her. She dedicated much of her life to helping animals, and her love for them was a central part of her being. Throughout her life, Gloria shared her home with many dogs, but none captured her heart quite like Coco, the dog she considered her forever companion. We take comfort in knowing that Gloria is now reunited with all the wonderful animals who were a part of her life.

Gloria’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a mother, grandmother, wife, and friend whose love, generosity, and passion touched the lives of everyone she met. We will always carry her memory with us, and as we say goodbye, we take solace in the thought that she is now with her beloved animals, surrounded by peace and love.

A private service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St Hubert's Animal Welfare Center 575 Woodland Ave, Madison, NJ 07940 in honor of Gloria’s lifelong commitment to helping animals.

Rest in peace, Gloria. You will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten.
