Obituary of Ursula E Duffy
Ursula Elisabeth Duffy passed away on March 17, 2025. She was 91 years old.
Born in New York, NY, to parents Albert and Bernardine (Helmers) Warnking, Ursula lived with her husband and children in London, England, Antwerp, Belgium, and was a longtime resident of Summit, NJ, before settling in Mendham with her husband in 1997. She was a woman of great faith and was a very active and longtime member of both St. Teresa of Avila in Summit and St. Joseph Parish in Mendham.
Ursula worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Head of School at Oak Knoll School for Girls in Summit for many years before her retirement. Through her life, Ursula was a very active and involved member of every community she lived in. In London and Antwerp, she was a member of both the International and the American Women’s Club. She was involved in the Mendham Business Association, the Mendham Historical Society, and served on various committees for the Mendham Commons Association, the Delbarton Parents of Graduates and the Delbarton Mother’s Association, among many others. She was passionate about her community and the people in it, though her favorite people to be with were her family.
Ursula is predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, the late Donald J. Duffy, and is survived by her loving daughter Kathryn Elisabeth Duffy, son Christopher Duffy and his wife Michelle, grandchildren Brooke and Ella Duffy, her close cousin Margaret Westerkamp (Helmers), and many relatives in Germany. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, from 4-8 PM, and on Saturday, March 22, from 9-10:30 AM at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, March 22, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Church, W. Main Street, Mendham. Ursula will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in a private family ceremony at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit.
