David Allen Zawicki died on November 2, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center after a short illness. He was 82.
Born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, he lived there before moving to Roseland in 1965.
Mr. Zawicki was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, and attended New York University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Mr. Zawicki proudly served in the New Jersey Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major. He was an accomplished marksman and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow shooters.
He worked professionally in mainframe computer sales and support starting in the 1950s, and was employed by companies such as Honeywell, GTE, Singer, Harris and IBM.
Mr. Zawicki was unmarried, and the son of Victor J. and Charlotte A. Zawicki, also of Bloomfield and Roseland. Dr. Gloria Joan Zawicki Dyer was his sister, and she predeceased him. Survivors include his niece, Robin A. Dyer of Mendham, and his nephew, J. Scott Dyer of Pleasantville, NY. He is also survived by 4 grand- nieces and nephews, James G. Dyer of Sauk Rapids, MN, Ann M. Dyer of Ellsworth, ME, and Christian J. Matthijssen and Jonathan C. Matthijssen of Mendham.
A reception for friends and relatives will be held on Friday, November 16 from 7-9 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Interment was private.
