Obituary of Marguerite M. Tiger

Marguerite M. Tiger passed away on February 21, 2017 at home in Alexandria Twp. She was 67. Born in Akron, Ohio she lived and grew up in Gladstone. She moved to Dunellen & then to Piscataway where she lived and raised her sons Ira & Steve. In 2005 she moved & settled in Alexandria Township. She also spent some time living in Nashville, TN, where she pursued her love of music. She enjoyed being a singer and songwriter and had a show that aired on PBS called “Tiger Tracks”. Marguerite attended Bernards High School in Bernardsville and graduated in 1967. She proudly graduated from Somerset Christian College in Zarephath, NJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership Magnum Cum Laude in August 2011. Her family will always remember her as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and beloved friend. Her greatest pride was her sons. Her utmost joy in life was the time she spent with her grandchildren who adored and cherished every moment they were with her. Her friends and family will remember her love for our Risen Savior by her generosity and grace. She showed a passion for life as a comforter and encourager with her witty sense of humor that touched all who knew her. Marguerite worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. She later joined Rossi Psychological Group in Somerville where she served as Office Administrator. She also taught piano. Throughout her entire life she continued to write and record music. She is survived by her two sons Ira J. DeShields, III & his wife Cathy of Lebanon; Steve DeShields and his wife Tara of Middlesex; one brother George Tiger of Gladstone; three sisters Barbara Knox of Mt, Royal, NJ; Rebecca Conners of Bridgeton, NJ; Susan Strodtbeck of CA; three grandchildren Gianna, Jaclyn & Ira; & many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday Feb. 27, 2017 from 6-9 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 11am at The Peapack Reformed Church, 224 Main Street, Gladstone. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Clinton Church of the Nazarene, The Peapack Reformed Church or the Humane Society.
