Obituary of Jacqueline D Deighan

MENDHAM - Jacqueline Dolores Deighan died at Holly Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 after a long illness. She was 78. Born in Montclair to the late Walter W. and Frances (Brown) Mayer on April 20, 1931, she was a resident of Mendham since 1963. She was a professor at William Paterson University in Wayne until retiring in 1988. Previously, she was a professor at the University of Tennessee and Seton Hall University. She had graduated from Our Lady Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington in 1949, St. Michael's School of Nursing in Newark in 1954, earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Rutgers University in 1959, a Master of Arts in 1961 and a Master of Education in 1970 both from Columbia University, earned her Doctor of Education degree in 1972 from Columbia University, and a Doctor of Medicine from St. Georges University in Grenada in 1978. Mrs. Deighan is survived by her husband of 46 years, John D. Deighan; her son John F. Deighan of Long Valley; two sisters, Marilyn Mayer of Belleville and Muriel Kropinski of Bound Brook; a niece and a nephew. C. Church, West Main Street, Mendham, NJ at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery next to the church.
