Obituary of Paul J. Kuehne

Tewksbury - Paul Joseph Kuehne died at Overlook Medical Center in Summit on Monday July 27, 2009 after a short illness. He was 80. Born in Newark to the late Joseph and Grace (Krock) Kuehne on April 4, 1929, he was a resident of Chatham Township for over 38 years before moving to Tewksbury Township 10 years ago. Mr. Kuehne was the owner/operator of Homestead Oil in Hillside NJ for many years before his retirement in 1989. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy as an Ensign from 1951 to 1953. Mr. Kuehne served as an elder for the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, the Long Hill Chapel in Chatham, and the Lamington Presbyterian Church. He was a past president f the Homeowners' Association of Hunters Glen, and a past president of the Chatham Concert Series for ten years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Elizabeth Wylie, his son Peter Kuehne and his wife Anne-Estelle of Millington; his daughter Betsey Jansson and her husband Steven of Haworth NJ; his brother Richard Kuehne and his wife Elizabeth of Lancaster PA; and five grandchildren, Christian, Hanna, and Grace Jansson, and Emerson and Wesley Kuehne. Funeral services will be at the Peapack Reformed Church on Main Street in Peapack on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Everyone will meet directly at the church for services. A private interment will follow at the convenience of the family.
