Obituary of Elwood Sisson

Elwood "Ed" Sisson passed away on Monday, May 25th at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge. He was 91. Born in Elizabeth NJ, Mr. Sisson was a 40+ year resident of Mendham. Mr. Sisson graduated from St. Benedicts Preparatory School and attended University of Maryland for two years before earning his B.S. from Fordham University. Mr. Sisson worked at Houdaille Construction Materials in Morristown NJ for 36 years before retiring in 1978 as Vice President of Sales. He also served in the Army during WWII. He was a longtime parishioner of St Joseph’s Church, member at Mendham Golf and Tennis, High Pressure Salesmen Organization and the Dale Carnegie Public Speakers Bureau. He was also a dedicated volunteer at Atlantic Healthcare. Elwood loved playing golf, and following his son and grandsons' sports activities. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching 3 teams- Notre Dame Football, New York Mets, and the New York Jets. He loved driving his red Chrysler Sebring around town and spending holidays with his precious grandchildren. His family and friends will remember him as a loving, caring husband, with a wonderful sense of humor and role model to his son, and grandchildren. Elwood was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Marie {Midge}. He is survived by his son Edward F. Sisson of Mendham and his partner Berangere Barateig (BB), and his grandsons John Barrett and Matthew Cassidy Sisson. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s church in Mendham. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Mendham.
