Obituary of Thomas E. O'Callaghan

Thomas "Tom" O'Callaghan of Peapack, passed away on March 22, 2015 at the Center for Hope Hospice Care in Scotch Plains. He was 60 years old. Born in Riverhead, NY he lived in Peapack, NJ for the last 33 years. Tom was a Mortgage Banker for Lakeland Bank for over 10 years and previously was a Regional Sales Executive for the Hewitt Soap Company for 25 years. He was a loving husband, father and friend who cherished his life and loved to spend time enjoying nature, spending time with his friends, eating good food and serving the needs of others. He was a grateful member of the spiritual family of St. Brigid and St. Elizabeth Parish where he happily participated in many opportunities including leading the CYO, working on the Pre Cana Team, ushering at Mass and participating in the Knights of Columbus and several of their fundraising and service activities. But his greatest joy was his two daughters; Emma, 17 and Cate, 16. They were a gift who came late in life and so were treasured all the more. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary O'Callaghan and his brother Michael. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Denise Huberdeau O'Callaghan, his two daughters Catherine and Emma , his brother Daniel O'Callaghan and his wife Nicole, his sister Patricia and her husband Tony, and his sister-in –law Cheri and her husband Tom. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; all of whom he loved and was grateful to. Most especially he was grateful to his wing woman Cheri who so beautifully and compassionately walked with him through the painful path of being a cancer patient. Visitation will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. On Friday March 27, 2015 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be Saturday at 10:30am at St. Brigid Church, Main Street, Peapack. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, in Basking Ridge. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers you please practice a random act of kindness in Tom's memory, or donate to the O'Callaghan Children's Education Fund PO Box 59, Peapack or St. Brigid Parish.
