Obituary of Richard V. Morales

Richard V. Morales Mendham Borough Police Sergeant Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend Richard V. Morales died suddenly on Sat. April 18, 2009 at St. Clare's in Dover. He was 46. Born in Passaic, he lived in Hopatcong before moving to Flanders 4 years ago. Rich was a 1981 Graduate of Hopatcong High School and received his BS degree from Glassboro State College now Rowan College. He was a Police Sergeant for the Mendham Borough Police Department where he has been on the force for the last 22 years, prior to that he was an officer for the NYPD. Rich was a well respected Police Officer who was very active in the community and his loss is being felt by his family and an entire community. Rich was a wrestling coach with the Mount Olive Junior Wrestling Program. He was very active with the Wing Chung Kungfu, along with his enjoyment of boxing. He was an avid marathon runner along with participating in several Unity Bike Tours. He was also active with the M.A.D.D. and DARE Programs. He enjoyed giving tours to the school children and organizations of the Mendham Borough Police Headquarters. Survivors include his wife Nancy Barnes Morales, two daughters Kelsey Ann, and Abby; two sons Kyle and Colby, his parents Jane Elizabeth Farrington and Victor Manuel Morales of Cape May, one sister Michelle Fox of PA, one brother Ronald McMonigle, his father in law Earl Barnes, Jr. his brothers and sisters in law, Christine Day(Greg) of Hackettstown, Jacquelyn Burrini (John), of Roxbury, Marianne Hubbert, of PA, Earl Barnes III, (Marianne) of Long Valley, Kimberly Swentkowski (Robert) of PA, and Susan Ireland, (Cory) of Landing. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd from 2 through 9pm at the St. Luke Parish, 265 West Mill Rd., Long Valley, NJ, 07853, www.stlukelv.org. Funeral Mass Thursday, April 23rd at 11:00AM at St. Luke's Parish. Interment will be at the Mendham Hilltop Cemetery.
