Obituary of Howard C. Buschman

Howard Charles Buschman, Jr. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 2, 1917, Howard was the only child of Howard C. Buschman and Lillian Ruopp. He graduated from Albany (NY) Academy for Boys and Williams College (class of 1939). During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a marksmanship instructor, rising to the rank of Captain. After earning his law degree from Albany Law School, he clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson and subsequently had a long and distinguished career as vice president and general counsel for Abex Corporation. After his retirement from Abex in 1982, he maintained a private law practice from his home in Mountain Lakes, NJ. Howard is survived by his beloved wife Hildegard Trubel Buschman, of Washington Township, NJ, to whom he was married for 41 years, his son Charles G. H. Buschman of Roan Mountain, TN, his daughter Henrietta Buschman Jordan of Keene Valley, NY, and his son Stephen M. Buschman and daughter-in-law Teresa Maturino of Ellington, CT. His oldest son, Howard C. Buschman, III, died in 2002. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A man of keen and curious intelligence, Howard was interested in history, contemporary affairs, and literature. He played hockey and tennis regularly and also competed in many sailboat races on the lakes near his home. He loved dogs, and with his wife Hilde raised Belgian Sheepdogs who won many blue ribbons in dog shows throughout the Northeast. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Mendham, NJ on Monday, March 9th at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at Bailey Funeral Home 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham before the service at 9:00 a.m..
