Richard was born in New Brunswick and formerly of Bernardsville and Basking Ridge before moving to Mendham in 1982. For the past 30 years he was a machine operator for Beneficial Corporation and then for Benjamin Moore in Flanders retiring in 2012.
Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with family, friends and helping others.
In his spare time Richard enjoyed tinkering in his garage doing restoration, as well as carpentry and gardening. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother Daisy Van Allen and a brother Michael Regan.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Madelyn S. Lucas, son Christopher and his wife Katie, two brothers Steven Copeland and Daryl Augustinsky, and four grandchildren Luke, Logan, Chris Jr., and Charlie.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, September 11th at St. Joseph RC Church, 6 New Street, Mendham. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday, September 10th at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham.
