John T. Villani of Mendham, NJ died on July 5th, surrounded by his family at the Jefferson Neuroscience Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 56.
John was born on February 27th 1961 in Montclair, NJ to parents Patricia and Jack Villani. He grew up in Spring Lake NJ where he graduated from Manasquan High. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of South Carolina in 1984 and lived briefly in Columbia, SC with his son Eamon. After returning to New Jersey in 1987, he met Patricia Metelski and they were married on August 25th 1990. John worked in Sales for Equifax for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home dad, his proudest achievement.
John was a skilled and inventive cook with family and friends always remarking that he should open his own restaurant. He loved walking and swimming at the Jersey Shore with his wife, and enjoying wine and conversation on the back porch.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia, children, Eamon, Sophia and Marianna, mother Patricia, brother, Mark Villani, sister, Jennifer O’Leary, and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his son John “Jack” Villani.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 10th at 11am at St. Joseph Church, Mendham.
